ᐅ Which conduit is suitable for LAN cables?

Good morning everyone,

I have another question. In our new build, the LAN cables are being installed in protective conduits. However, there is some disagreement about the required diameter according to the relevant standards. I have read about 25mm (1 inch) conduits.
According to the electrician, a 20mm (¾ inch) conduit should be used for simplex cables up to the outlet. No pull cord or similar is planned.
This naturally raises the question for me of how a future replacement would be possible... if it is even necessary.

What size conduits would you use? Where might it make sense to install an empty conduit for future use?
Thanks everyone

Oh, another idea. I don’t think my builder will do that, but I can ask anyway.

We clarified this directly with the electrician from our general contractor. It went smoothly.

A switch in a new build just because you were too cheap to install a duplex outlet? Are you serious?

The problem is that it’s actually quite rare for a duplex outlet to be more advantageous than a single outlet. We also have duplex outlets everywhere since the additional cost was minimal. But currently, they don’t really benefit me anywhere: 50% of the outlets are still unused. For 45% of the outlets, I only need one connection (even looking ahead). And in two locations where one outlet is not enough, I currently need 3 (living room) and 5 (home office) connections. So at both locations, a small 5- or 8-port switch is installed.

There are also situations where a switch doesn’t help, for example, if you want to keep different networks separate or—God forbid—connect an analog fax machine. In these cases, using two physical outlets is almost unavoidable.

At our place

Home office: double outlet with 1 laptop, 1 IP phone
Living room: one wall with double outlet, 1 smart TV, 1 PlayStation
Living room: opposite wall with double outlet, 1 PC, 1 IP phone

If you are installing the network yourself, in my opinion, single outlet boxes are not the best choice. They require the same installation space, and to save just a few cents on cable and outlet materials, I would not want to install multiple single outlets. We use double outlet boxes almost everywhere. Only the access points get a single cable.

Current plan:
2x home offices (PC, printer)
2x living rooms (IP phone, smart TV)
2x children's rooms (PC, TV)
1x hallway on the ground floor (access point)
1x hallway on the upper floor (access point)

In addition, empty conduits for coaxial cables will be installed in the living rooms and children's rooms. The multiswitch is located in the wall cabinet near the switch. This allows for future network upgrades or replacing satellite TV with IPTV if needed.
