Hello everyone,
we could have a laundry chute installed in the new house, but everyone advises against it. Most say that, compared to the benefit, it is simply too expensive. Should we listen to this advice, or what do you think?

Try to change the height to at least 90cm (35 inches), preferably 100cm (39 inches). There are regulations regarding safety clearances. Thanks for the advice. Who checks something like this after construction? Or is it more important for the case that a child might fall in—would the insurance refer to this regulation and refuse to pay?

Could you please link to both positive and negative examples?I could, but I won’t. Everyone can decide for themselves what they find appealing.
Personally, I don’t find the common flap systems or a 300mm (12 inches) PVC pipe in the utility room attractive. Both can, of course, be dressed up with some effort—for example, by boxing in the pipe. However, then we’re talking about costs that may no longer be in the three-digit range. At that point, I find the relation to the benefit questionable.

put in effort to spruce it up, for example, boxing in the pipe.
But then we’re talking about prices that might no longer be in the triple digits... Hmm, first making a bold claim and then such a weak finish. That’s a pity.
The second approach makes sense. If you get along well with the carpenter, they can even craft a nice cover / shelf / door in front of the pipe for a two-digit amount.

The second approach is correct. If you have a good relationship with the carpenter, they can even craft a nice flap / shelf / door in front of the pipe for a two-digit amount.I won’t be posting other users’ photos just to point fingers and say “your solution is ugly.” It’s perfectly normal that tastes vary and people should be allowed to express that, but I won’t take part in finger-pointing and am happy to accept if you consider that a “weak finish.”
