Hello everyone,
we could have a laundry chute installed in the new house, but everyone advises against it. Most say that, compared to the benefit, it is simply too expensive. Should we listen to this advice, or what do you think?

Hi,
I think that’s a great idea, and you shouldn’t let anyone talk you out of it. I once visited a house that had the same setup—the laundry chute went straight down to the basement, where the clothes fell into a basket. I would love to have something like that too, but my house is already finished.

Hello,
if the house is not very large, then something like that is a luxury that is not really necessary. After all, you can easily carry those few items down to the basement yourself. A central vacuum system would help me much more since that one is heavy to carry.

A laundry chute is definitely a convenient feature, and if I had the opportunity, I would have one installed. It’s especially practical if you have children. When I think about carrying basket after basket of laundry down to the basement, I wouldn’t hesitate to get one.

That only makes sense if you have a lot of laundry. For me, it wouldn’t be necessary, since I can easily carry my few socks and underwear down to the basement myself.

Hello,
I can imagine that cold air might be drawn up from the basement through a shaft like that. If you want to do this, make sure the shaft can be completely closed so that no heat is lost.
