Ev-Marie865 May 2017 21:44Hello everyone,
We are currently planning the floor plan for our house.
We had the idea to add a second utility room as a kind of laundry room on the upper floor. Our utility room on the ground floor is only 5 sqm (54 sq ft) due to space limitations, and it is too small to accommodate the washing machine, dryer, and the entire heating system.
Does anyone have experience with this? Or maybe you have something similar?
I look forward to your answers and comments.

You can hear the washing machine when it spins. But on the upper floor, we have prefabricated walls and an open gallery by the staircase. The utility room is located right at the first door by the stairs.
I assume that there is always some level of noise in a house, even if it’s just everyday family life. The 10 minutes per wash cycle don’t really stand out—after all, laundry has to be done somewhere.
If you’re concerned about noise levels, consider designing the utility room with thick walls or installing a large cabinet for the laundry inside, which can help with sound insulation.
But we are happy with the location: no unnecessary carrying back and forth, and laundry is done right where it’s generated.
Regards, Yvonne
