Hello, in our new build, a PLUGGIT system with heat recovery is planned. The building specification states it is suitable for up to 170 sqm (1830 sq ft) of living space. Coincidentally, we have exactly 170 sqm (1830 sq ft). On the Pluggit website, I found the following units that could be suitable: AP190 (for about 140 sqm / 1505 sq ft), AP310 (for about 260 sqm / 2800 sq ft), AP460 (for about 400 sqm / 4300 sq ft).

Can anyone tell me which system is likely installed for up to 170 sqm (1830 sq ft)? The 190 seems too small, while the 310 appears oversized. The price should be around €9200.

Which Pluggit unit has been installed in your projects?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,
only the supplier can probably tell you which system is installed. Just ask them.

Designing these systems is always a bit tricky. First, it’s not the living area but the area to be ventilated that matters. So from 170 sqm (sq ft) of living space including the basement, it quickly becomes around 260 sqm (sq ft).
Then the volume to be ventilated and the required airflow rate are determined.
Important: systems shouldn’t run at their absolute limits, as the fan efficiencies drop significantly at the upper performance range. For example, a unit like the AP190 can deliver a maximum airflow of XXX (probably 190) m³/h (cubic feet per hour), but that would require it to run at full speed, which is noisy and inefficient. The airflow charts I have seen so far all show a steep drop-off at about 70-80% of the maximum airflow.
So, if you need 250 m³/h, your system should be able to deliver around 300 m³/h.

Best regards,

Andreas

Great, thanks a lot!
I will talk to the technician tomorrow.

Anyone else with experience..?

Hi,

we have the Avent P310 for 135 sq m (1450 sq ft).
The 190 model would have *theoretically* worked too, but as correctly pointed out here, it would have operated in an unfavorable load range.

Most likely, the P310 will be sufficient for you as well. The airflow rates are adjusted individually for each room during commissioning, based on the expert’s calculations.

Therefore, in my view, a slight oversizing of the system does not pose a problem.

Best regards,
Thorsten

By the way, we are very satisfied with the system (appearance, functionality, operation, etc).

We are as well, I can confirm that.

Thank you very much for the helpful tips!
We will also be using the AP310.

How is this actually done? Are there dampers installed for that?
