Hi everyone

My girlfriend and I recently decided to build a small wooden cabin in the mountains. We already have a suitable plot of land and a small woodland area included. I just wanted to ask if there is anything I should consider before starting construction.

Thanks

Definitely tile the entire bathroom and kitchen. It would be a pity if the wooden paneling gets wet and, as a result, starts to rot.

Hey

Install many windows and use only candles for lighting at night. This saves electricity, maintains the cozy atmosphere of a mountain cabin, and reduces both initial investment and maintenance costs.

Definitely choose wooden furniture, preferably not painted but only coated with a protective varnish or simply sanded. This looks nicer than a clash of colors. And don’t forget old-fashioned pictures…

Hello,
take a close look around the area; maybe you’re lucky and there is a stream or even a spring you can use. And get back to me when the cabin is finished, then I’ll come visit you there!

Hi,
It would be very helpful if you could become energy independent. For example, a solar system on the roof and a wood heating system. This is because it can be extremely expensive if you have to have the utility lines extended all the way to the cabin.

Hello,
if that's possible in the cabin, then install an open fireplace. I find that very romantic; all that would be missing is the snow outside, and then I would just sit in front of the fireplace and watch the fire.
