Bau-beendet9 Jan 2024 09:04Hello,
this morning after getting up, I noticed quite a lot of condensation on all the windows in the attic (4 floor-to-ceiling windows, 1 skylight). In the bedroom and bathroom (both on the east side), it was quite heavy. The other two rooms also had condensation, but not as much. On the ground floor, there was almost none—really just minimal.
I haven’t noticed this so much in previous years, only today and also a few times in the past days. Is this "normal"?
Thank you!

Bau-beendet9 Jan 2024 09:28Triple-glazed uPVC windows. Outside temperature around minus 10°C (14°F). In the bedroom, approximately 20°C (68°F) with about 60% humidity, for example. The other rooms upstairs around 22°C (72°F) with similar humidity levels.

Buschreiter9 Jan 2024 09:54The key term here is "dew point." The window temperature is so low that moisture from the air condenses on the glass. It would be less desirable if this happened on the wall, as that could create a breeding ground for mold spores. On the window: just wipe it away. Frequent airing out is also recommended. In my opinion, 60% humidity in heated rooms is (too) high.

Thanks first of all for the explanation.
Currently, the relative humidity in the attic is around 50% in the middle. What would be the optimal level? My hygrometer indicates it as "ok." Downstairs in the living room, it shows 45%.
