Herrbau201413 Jul 2014 11:30Hello everyone,
We are currently building a detached single-family house without a basement / KfW 70 energy standard / ventilation system / gas + solar.
Wall structure: plaster / aerated concrete 17.5 cm (7 inches) / insulation 12 cm (5 inches) / air gap 2 cm (1 inch) / facing brick 11.5 cm (4.5 inches)
I have noticed that on many houses, the perimeter strips made of XPS are fully glued around the window openings before the insulation is installed over a large area. (Photo of neighbor’s house)
At our house, the perimeter strips are currently only glued on the left and right sides of the windows, even though the brick facing has already been installed well above the window height. The cutout for the roller shutter box was also not glued with XPS.
I will discuss this with our construction company next week but would like to gain some information beforehand.
Is there a regulation requiring that the entire window opening must be sealed?
Are there roller shutter boxes that come with XPS sealing included?
Regards
Ingo
