Conclusion:
Fogged windows on the outside are a clear sign of good thermal insulation of triple glazing. We have also experienced this.

Edit: just softened

This effect occurs not only with triple glazing but also with double glazing.

I can confirm that.

Some friends of mine experience this effect as well.

We do not notice this effect (or rather, we only observe it on the roof windows).

The wall windows are all triple-glazed.

Since we each have a house from the same manufacturer, but my friends’ house is about one year older, I checked with the window manufacturer and found out the following:

a) Exterior fogging is actually a sign of good thermal insulation.
b) The manufacturer has now started coating the windows to prevent fogging, and we apparently just happened to receive the new version.

Best regards,

Haha, the manufacturers of window sills really managed it well: making everyone believe that condensation is a good sign...

Soon, roofers will tell us that a little water permeability is good because the controlled ventilation system makes the air too dry...

Just a joke. I’m happy about my fogged-up windows.

I cannot follow your objection.

Due to the improved thermal insulation of triple glazing, the outer surface of the window naturally stays colder. This causes moisture from the air to condense on it. It is a completely normal physical process (not something invented by window manufacturers).

To some extent, this condensation can be prevented by applying a coating of titanium dioxide or nanoparticles to the glass.

If your windows do not have this, the effect can indeed be annoying (sometimes you cannot see outside for hours…), as I have observed firsthand with my friends.
