ᐅ Hot tub in the garden or in a cold conservatory for extended use?

TheHausbauer3 Apr 2023 10:10We are considering including a hot tub in our new build project. Since the summer is relatively short, we thought about installing a glass roof with sliding glass panels (a kind of cold conservatory) to house the hot tub. Does this make sense, or would there be many issues with moisture or other problems? What should we consider regarding the pipework if we only want to prepare for it initially (just water, wastewater, and high-voltage electricity, or something special like a service duct)?
You will need a dehumidification system; otherwise, you’ll end up with a dripping cave.
You will require fresh water, wastewater, high-voltage power, regular electricity, and network connections, including supply and return lines.
I would also install a sand filtration system with automatic backwash and automatic dosing.
The cheaper hot tubs with cartridge filters only cause maintenance work.
For heating, use a heat pump instead of instant water heaters. Possibly also solar thermal collectors.

You should carefully calculate whether the extra effort for your own heat pump, etc., is really worthwhile. Of course, this depends on the planned use.
We have also prepared this; you need 3-phase electricity and basically nothing else. Water is supplied and drained via hose. Of course, you can always do more...

We are quickly talking about price differences in the five-digit range between "manual" and "proper" installations. That might be worth mentioning 🙂 For example, water changes are done 2-4 times a year. This makes you consider how much of a premium a "proper" plumbing system is really worth.
A cold conservatory with sliding doors also costs money. If you use tablets for disinfection, you need to constantly monitor the water parameters. With frequent use, you will need to change the water more often when using tablets because the breakdown products cannot be removed, and the disinfection will no longer work.
