Hello everyone,
we recently purchased an old single-family villa.
There are quite a few topics to address – the biggest ones at the moment:
* Electrical system
* Water pipes
* Heating
* Windows

As it stands, the house has 42 (!!) windows. You can probably imagine that we need to take a very detailed look.
So simply choosing aluminum windows for everything won’t be the case.
Window sizes range from 0.4 x 0.4 m (1.3 x 1.3 ft) up to 3.3 x 1.8 m (10.8 x 5.9 ft) plus two tilt-and-turn balcony doors and one lift-and-slide door, as well as one of the house’s highlights: corner windows (preferably as a full-glass system) measuring 2.4 x 1.8 m (7.9 x 5.9 ft) and 3.3 x 1.8 m (10.8 x 5.9 ft) (W x H).

Can you give me tips or recommendations?
Double or triple glazing (the general advice “no triple glazing for old buildings” is, in my opinion, pointless)
Up to now, we have been focused on uPVC windows.
Favorites:
- Internorm KF310, KF320 or KF510 (the free aluminum cladding is of course interesting)
- Fenster Groß
- Gealan Kubus
(YES – I really like the angular, minimalist design)

Any experiences with the manufacturers mentioned?
Which others are worth considering?
uPVC or aluminum – or a mix for cost reasons?

I’m curious to see what I can learn and take away here...

The house is located in Rheinisch-Bergischer Kreis.

If you have any recommendations regarding dealers or installers, I’m happy to hear them.
(To be honest, we’re also considering “Polish windows” – not a house brand, but buying from a well-known manufacturer there and having a professional company install them here.)

Addendum regarding the manufacturer “Fenster Groß” -> Plano 76 / Plano 76 Aluminum series
