Hello everyone, I’m currently planning to assemble the Ikea Pax wardrobe and want to prepare well in advance. My question is for those who have experience with the assembly: Which tools are absolutely necessary to complete the Pax setup efficiently and without unnecessary back-and-forth? I’m not only referring to the standard tools, such as the Allen key that Ikea provides, but also any additional tools that can really help, for example to fasten screws more easily or quickly, or to better align parts. I’d appreciate specific recommendations and maybe some tips on what to watch out for to avoid complicating the assembly.

As an addition: When installing the doors, it is worth precisely adjusting the hinges using the included adjustment screws. A slight readjustment after assembly helps to avoid unsightly gaps. A narrow screwdriver with the appropriate head is recommended for this task.

Also, when assembling the frame parts, it is advisable to use a square or a small miter gauge to ensure perfectly right angles – this greatly improves both stability and appearance.

Thank you very much for this important tip! I hadn’t considered using a square before. Are there any recommendations on which tool (more affordable or professional-grade) would be worthwhile for DIY enthusiasts? I don’t want to spend unnecessary money, but having a precise tool seems sensible, especially for a larger piece of furniture like the Pax.

A simple metal square from a hardware store usually does the job well enough, is accurate enough, and typically costs just a few euros. It’s less about the price and more about the accuracy of the square – it should truly measure 90 degrees without any play. For occasional use, professional-grade tools aren’t necessary.
