Hello,

we are currently renovating our house and are considering possible flooring options for the upstairs hallway.

The hallway is accessed via a beech staircase. Four rooms open off the hallway: two of these rooms have laminate flooring in a light oak finish. The bedroom is carpeted in a light beige color. The bathroom has light gray tiles with a stone look.

At the moment, the hallway has a dark brown vinyl floor. Could you please give me advice on which color or wood-look vinyl flooring would best match without clashing with the laminate and the beech staircase?

Many thanks to you all!

Why do you want to install vinyl flooring again? Is it because of the same height? I would compare either the light beige carpet or the same laminate. A fourth type of flooring would be too visually busy for me.

Yes, partly because of the height (which is why we chose vinyl) and also because we no longer have the carpet or the laminate flooring (both were installed about 1-2 years ago)...

Just continue with beech...

I wouldn’t go for a wood look. Something relatively monochromatic/subtle, maybe in a tone similar to the tiles? Or if you want to be bolder, something like Travertine Strong Gerdoo. It also depends on your interior design style.

Why not use wood (plank) to connect to wood (beech)? Admittedly, I am a bit biased—I really can’t relate to vinyl or so-called "design flooring" at all.
