Hello dear forum community,

We are also about to make our dream of a lifetime come true.
The plot of land is already secured, and now we are looking for someone who can bring our ideas to life. Since we would like the walls of our townhouse to be made of POROTON, we keep noticing that in the northern regions, construction is often done with aerated concrete blocks (e.g., Ytong).
Now we are looking for builders who work with POROTON and are still located in the north – which is why I am reaching out to this forum, as it is very difficult to find out how companies actually build.
IN SHORT: Who builds with POROTON in the north and can provide us with a contact?
Thank you very much in advance,
Chrischan

Since bricks are fired, they are not exactly environmentally friendly (if “organic” is meant in that context).

Do you mean because of the energy required during the manufacturing process? – No, I think the idea of being "organic" is more about the "renewable raw material," meaning the brick is romantically seen as the free-range chicken among building materials. People associate it with a member of a "developing country" who, in some development aid documentary—just as peacefully as little Klaus eats his fish sticks in a commercial—plays around with a lump of clay in a wooden mold, and from that come these wonderfully natural houses. We want that too—maybe that even atones for the VW diesel.

We are also looking for a general contractor building with Poroton here in Stormarn.
This is proving to be surprisingly difficult.
Stoll is out because we need something “special” (due to the plot and the development plan).
I have contacted WBI, but a second option would be nice.

Maybe someone has a good tip?

b) why difficult, a) you hopefully know my stone mantra 🙂

And can Stoll only handle rectangular flat plots or what?
WBI doesn’t ring a bell for me right now. Feel free to contact me informally via external private message, I use the same name on web (de) as here. This really shouldn’t be rocket science. Has the house you want to build (a semi-detached house, if I remember correctly) already been planned or something?

WBI doesn’t ring a bell for me right now. Feel free to message me privately without obligation, via external PM; on web (de) I have the same username as here. This shouldn’t be rocket science. Is the house you want to build (a semi-detached, if I remember correctly) already planned somewhere here?

b) Because almost no one in our region builds with Poroton. We have Breyer and Seck in mind but worry they might be very expensive (consultation scheduled for next week).
a) Yes, I know it, but unfortunately it doesn’t help here at all. I’ve tried to convince the parties involved in the house construction (the main issue is the parents, who will move into a granny flat and finance half) that aerated concrete is not the end of the world, but it’s hopeless. After hours of discussions like “Then you’ll have to rebuild after at most 20 years because the houses don’t last” and “I asked xyz, and they said aerated concrete is very bad,” I just want to finally move forward and find someone who actually builds with Poroton in our region.

We already had a conversation with Virtus, which was EXTREMELY frustrating, since to be honest the person there seemed quite incompetent and suggested we should just renegotiate with the building authority / planning permission office to build a single-family house instead (we have an obligation to build an extension on the neighboring house), and that building on the plot is basically a lost cause (“Otherwise you have a big loss in quality of life”), also we shouldn’t do a roof terrace because it’s too expensive (which I’d like to decide myself…) and so on.
Stoll gives the impression that only the floor plan can be approved. From that I conclude (maybe wrongly) that they would be overwhelmed with our project as well 🙁
Basically, we want to build a two-family house and have an obligation to build an extension to a settlement house located on the neighboring plot.

Ouch, what happened to me there? – No, I have several addresses with that email provider, but 11ant is with gmx (de)!

Are the parents newcomers? – I at least gather that instead of a duplex, it will now be a classic two-family house.

Oh, you should explain that in more detail, feel free to do so personally – sorry again for my mistake with the address!

What do you mean by that: do you have unusual ceiling height or roof shape requirements?
