Hello dear house building forum community,

We are currently considering how large our shower should be. It will definitely be a tiled shower. Initially, we planned for 120cm x 90cm (47 inches x 35 inches). Now we are thinking about going for 120cm x 120cm (47 inches x 47 inches), as we would prefer a larger shower. Are there any experiences, suggestions, or criticism regarding the shower size?

The bathroom is 2.88m x 3.72m (9.4 ft x 12.2 ft) in size.

We actually only have 80x80 and manage fine with that (and I’m definitely not a fairy ^^). This is mainly because we have a small bathroom and really wanted to include a bathtub. Personally, when it comes to showers, I think that beyond a certain size, there’s no added benefit. I would rather have the space for a larger cabinet or laundry basket instead. The choice between 90x120 and 120x120 would depend on the remaining free floor space.

Spacious shower area with room for two and a seating area works very well in an approximately 12sqm (130 sq ft) bathroom. This was achieved by forgoing a bathtub and instead having a private, sheltered soft tub in the garden with a great view.

The bathroom is 10.7m² (115 sq ft), which is quite large but not huge. I would probably choose the 120cm x 90cm (47 inches x 35 inches) shower. Do you have young children? That was the reason we didn’t want to give up a bathtub. Later, when the kids have moved out and we renovate the bathroom again, we will likely give up the bathtub and opt for a larger shower to enjoy more open space. In your case, the bathroom is large anyway.

Small children – a good reason for a bathtub – I forgot.

120x120 without door and without glass, just left completely open works perfectly. The bathroom is not large, 250x250, but it is sufficient for us.

Dark gray shower with ceiling rain showerhead, hand shower on the wall, and niche with toiletries.

Bathroom with white vanity, mirror, window with blinds, and decoration on the windowsill.

Dark bathroom with gray tiles, partition, toilet on the left, and niche with toiletries.

Modern shower: dark tiles, ceiling showerhead, wall fitting and hand shower; floor drain.

I assume you don’t have a bathtub then. We have now reached 100cm x 120cm (40 inches x 47 inches) including glass partition.

We recently visited a specialist dealer near Szczecin. I have to say, their range is significantly better than Elements, where we were before. The price-performance ratio is also much better. What annoyed me most at Elements was that there were no prices displayed on the items. The saleswoman seemed to assume that if we are building, our budget is unlimited. Solutions we would have liked, such as a faucet in the bathtub, cost over €2000. The simpler but equally good solution in Poland was €500.

We will now plan and purchase both bathrooms in Poland.
