ᐅ What is the best way to fill holes in masonry? Using expanding foam?

SkyfireHello everyone,
Since the mason installed the empty conduit pipes and the drain straight through the middle of the wall and accordingly left the bricks open, the question arises: what would be the best way to close these openings (see picture)?
What would you use? Expanding foam? Screed?
Thank you very much
Steffen

Exterior wall, interior wall, basement? Where is that?
I would generally fill holes for penetrations in walls with plaster and masonry mortar (mixed with a bit of frost-resistant construction adhesive, which sticks much better for non-professionals). For exterior walls, depending on the depth, use mortar matching the masonry (light mortar), and in the floor always use repair mortar (even though these are usually not officially approved as screed).

SteffenTo ask differently, why are you asking this question? The method shouldn’t really concern you unless the mason himself doesn’t know what to do. Are you going to continue yourselves as a DIY project from now on?

This is the interior wall of the garage, or the conduits in the slab coming from the house. The mason is gone, and the holes need to be closed before the plasterer arrives. Then just have the plasterer do it. Just because it’s your first time building doesn’t mean he hasn’t seen this before. Give him 20 (currency) and provide the materials, or he will bring them after you show him what to do.
