Hello everyone, I recently noticed that the side panels of my Ikea Metod kitchen cabinet are installed crookedly. Specifically, one side is slightly leaning outward, which causes the doors and drawers not to close properly. I have already checked that the floor is level and that all screws are tightened correctly, but the gap remains. My question is: What exactly can I do if the side panels of an Ikea Metod cabinet are crooked? Has anyone had experience with adjusting them or any helpful tips on how to straighten the side panels? I would appreciate a detailed response.

Why not simply adjust it yourself with suitable shims and screws?A very good point, especially since I don’t want to deal with the hassle of returning and reassembling. I will use precisely fitting shims, securely attach the back panel, and gently tighten the screws to avoid any stress. If the problem persists afterward, there is always the option to contact Ikea support. Thanks to everyone, especially LOGEMIN and RETRAVIS, for the clear instructions!
Summary for anyone facing the same issue:
- Check the floor, wall, and back panel for levelness.
- Detach the back panel and side walls, then align them using a spirit level.
- Use wooden wedges carefully to compensate for uneven loads.
- Only tighten screws once everything is properly aligned.
- Make sure the cabinet is securely fixed to the wall.
This usually solves uneven side walls. Filing a complaint should be the last option if the panel is visibly warped or cannot be corrected.
