GASI50Hello everyone,
I am currently considering getting a piece of furniture from the Ikea Brimnes series, but I am unsure about the exact differences between the various models. Specifically, I am interested in how the individual versions differ in terms of dimensions, storage capacity, materials, and possible uses, as well as whether there are any special considerations for assembly or how flexible the furniture is to use. Perhaps there are also different designs or colors that are not immediately obvious?
I would really appreciate a detailed overview or your experiences with the different BRIMNES models to help me make a well-informed purchasing decision. Thanks in advance!

The BRIMNES series mainly includes beds, dressers, cabinets, and wardrobes. The differences are often in size and the number of drawers. Some models have built-in storage, while others do not. The colors are usually white and black-brown. Assembly is quite similar, but the screws vary depending on the model.
Hello GASI50,
to provide a bit more structure: BRIMNES products mainly include beds with storage, dressers, nightstands, and wardrobes. The differences are generally related to:
- Dimensions: The beds come in various sizes (e.g., 140x200 cm (55x79 inches), 160x200 cm (63x79 inches)), which is important for the bedroom space.
- Storage: Some beds have drawers underneath, while others feature storage boxes that pull out from the side. For dressers, the number of drawers and internal divisions vary.
- Material: All BRIMNES pieces are made from a combination of particleboard and plastic foil, but the surface finish can differ slightly, for example, having a matte or glossier appearance.
- Color options are almost always white or black-brown. Other colors are rare.
- Flexibility: Some models can be easily enhanced with drawer inserts or combined with other series, such as Malm or Hemnes.
Assembly is basically the same for all models, but larger furniture sometimes requires two people. It is important to carefully follow the specific assembly instructions, as these can vary slightly with new production batches.
I hope this helps.

Dressers differ by the number of drawers and sometimes by their height.
Hello GASI50 and everyone,
I’d like to add a bit of practical advice and experience here: BRIMNES offers something for everyone, whether you need a bed with lots of storage or just a simple chest of drawers.
- Beds with drawers are really handy if you have limited space because you can store quite a bit that would otherwise be left out (bedding, clothes, etc.).
- By the way, when assembling: it’s best to have a strong friend help you. The parts aren’t heavy, but their size can make handling awkward sometimes.
- And of course, when it comes to colors, white is usually the classic choice—bright and fitting in almost anywhere. Dark brown, on the other hand, looks more elegant but can make rooms visually smaller.
That’s absolutely right; Ikea doesn’t offer a huge variety there.
So, if you want to know more about drawer layouts or usage, just let me know!

I just wanted to mention that the BRIMNES bed with storage works really well for me. At first, I was unsure about the color and size, but it provides enough space for various blankets and pillows without making the room feel too crowded.
You might also want to consider whether you plan to use the furniture together with other series – there are reports that the heights don’t always match perfectly.
That’s a helpful tip I almost missed when making my purchase. Also, I want to encourage everyone who’s a bit apprehensive about assembling the furniture – the instructions are really step-by-step and easy to understand!
