Hello,
I want to cover my terrace and have a few questions I would like to ask. I hope you can help me.
First, the facts:
Terrace roof kit terdux, 5060 x 3500 mm (200 x 138 inches), made of 8 mm (0.3 inches) safety glass.
House wall: total 42 cm (17 inches), including 8 cm (3 inches) insulation and 12 cm (5 inches) solid brick cladding.
Now for my questions:
According to the manufacturer, fastening into the wall with 7x M16 bolts is required. Through my neighbor, I can get 9x M12 bolts. What do you think? I’m currently a bit short on cash… I would prefer to use the 9 screws and fix them with chemical anchor cartridges. Is that sufficient?
Would you drill into the brick cladding only, or through it and into the wall behind? Since the 9 chemical anchors are shorter than the 7 bolts, I would only reach the brick cladding. That should still hold, right?
Thanks in advance for your help, and I wish you all a nice day!

In my opinion, before deciding on M12 or M16 and the quantity, the correct anchor type for the wall structure should be determined first. The most important factor is how the anchor will be loaded.
Honestly, in my view, a specialist such as a structural engineer or a technician from an anchor manufacturer should handle this kind of issue.
