Good morning,

our eaves box is planned to be covered with plastic panels.
I have heard that drilling holes in them for spotlights is not recommended. The plastic is said to fray, and the membrane underneath might tear.
Is this really an issue? Would it be better to use wood instead?

Our roof overhang is also covered with plastic. We had no issues drilling holes for the recessed lights.

Even if the edges are not perfectly smooth, it doesn’t matter. The "cut edge" is anyway covered by the frame of the light fixture.

Ok, that sounds good so far.
Do you happen to know the exact name of your plastic panels?
