Hello everyone,

We are currently in the construction phase of our single-family home. We are actively gathering ideas to make daily life in the new house easier.

So far, we have:
- A laundry chute from the bathroom on the upper floor to the washing machine in the basement
- A platform for the washing machine to allow easy loading and unloading
- Pantry shelving with rotating trays

We have also considered:
- Building a small utility room behind the living room cabinet (sideboard) to house all the TV equipment (satellite box, DVD player, receiver, hard drive, etc.) out of sight

To illustrate, I’m attaching three photos.

Maybe some of you have a nice REALISTIC idea that could be implemented.

Thank you in advance for your ideas!

Best regards,
Slintrebla

Clever ideas that make everyday life at home easier...

No heat pump, no KNX, no wood-burning stove, no basement, no accessibility features, no passive house, no flat roof, no [wasauchimmertolesmoderneszeugs].

This should avoid most major issues and make life easier.

Still, no one wants that...

No wood stove and a heat pump instead of gas, oil, or pellets = no chimney sweep, with appointments that need to be scheduled every two years (which can sometimes cost a day off work if both partners are employed).

Looking forward to living in the house soon and seeing what lessons learned can be taken into the next build.

I find it equally interesting whether, in 20 years, everyone will be criticizing the open-plan living-dining area and the modern white high-gloss kitchen that cost 20,000 euros (about 21,500 USD) will be listed for pickup only on classifieds, while people start installing dark wood paneling on the ceilings again and seek that cozy, intimate atmosphere.

Your conclusions are always the best – you can also schedule appointments with people later on, or you might have neighbors (but they have to like you for that).

So you probably don’t work from home? And in today’s world – how outdated.

The level of your zest and intensity for life can be felt in many of your posts.
