Hello,
Has anyone here built a house without a basement on a slope? I would appreciate some pictures to get a better idea. We have an elevation difference of about 5 m (16 feet) from the street to the property boundary, which is approximately 25 m (82 feet) away, and the finished floor level (FFL) is planned to be 1.66 m (5.4 feet) above the street, with the garage 0.5 m (1.6 feet) lower.

Did you plan with an architect or general contractor?
Timber frame? We planned with an architect/structural engineer. We are building with solid masonry, stone on stone. We are doing the entire shell ourselves, and for the trades we don’t handle, we contract them out ourselves. Then I understand the planning even less.
For us, it is similar to a giant L-shaped concrete block. The foundation slab and retaining wall are connected with a large amount of steel reinforcement within waterproof concrete. The retaining wall holds back the slope. Below is the main garden, and above, behind the house, there will also be a terrace on ground level. (Maybe this year, we’ll see.) Except in the morning, the only sun there comes from above the house during summer. In that case, the 5 m (16 feet) might be tight.
