Hello,
we are planning a recessed niche/shelf in our shower measuring 50 x 30cm (20 x 12 inches). The site manager asked me at what height we would like to have it. Therefore, my question to you is: who else has a similar niche/shelf and at what height does yours start? It would also be interesting to compare your measurements.
Thank you in advance

That was exactly where I thought it should be aligned with the tiles. But since the partition will be installed beforehand, I think 120 cm (47 inches) is a good height, also coordinating with the tile size 30x60. Your site manager should coordinate with your tiler. They should be able to specify the exact height.

Could you please also recommend a suitable depth? In our case, the question is whether the partition wall needs to be 11 cm or a substantial 17.5 cm (4.3 inches) thick.
Thanks. We don’t have a niche like that, but I would suggest basing the depth on the width of a (cosmetics) bottle, so I think 10-15 cm (4–6 inches) is sufficient. You don’t want to place items behind each other because then you have to search for them.
Also, I would choose a width that can accommodate all the bottles you regularly use.
For two people, we each have a shampoo and a shower gel, plus a hair conditioner, possibly a hair treatment, and space for a razor.

For a free-standing partition wall, 11 cm (4.3 inches) is quite tight, isn’t it?Yep, that’s why it’s currently planned with 17.5 cm (6.9 inches).
But then it’s quite a thick beast... / a substantial wall.
