Hello forum,

we are building a house, a townhouse with a 50cm (20 inches) roof overhang all around. Our standard roof soffits are made of wood. I am worried that due to weather exposure, they will look completely worn out in 10 years.

The construction company is charging an additional 2,300€ for plastic soffits.

Is this justified? I had assumed that plastic would generally be cheaper than wooden soffits.

Hello,

we do not have to pay any extra charge for the roof soffits in white plastic.
For the anthracite color, we would have to pay about 800 EUR.

Best regards

Does anyone see any disadvantages of plastic eaves (compared to wood), besides the "look"?

We were advised to use plastic. However, we decided to leave the roof overhangs untreated and exposed. Plastic (the correct term is: synthetic material) can also yellow after several years, etc. In that case, repainting is just as easy or difficult.

With us, plastic was also included in the scope of work description, so there was no additional cost.

For cost estimation of plastic:
We paid a net amount of 1,100 for a house measuring 12 x 9.5 m (39.4 x 31.2 ft).

And that was not an additional charge! Your surcharge is already twice as high.
