Hello everyone,

I’m wondering which option is better: insulation between rafters or collar beam insulation using friction-fit mineral wool.

We are building a KfW 70 solid construction house.
Currently, the ground floor is being built with masonry.

Looking forward to your opinions.

You are currently building the house but unsure about a certain detail?

It depends on how the attic space is going to be used – and with collar beam insulation, you automatically also have insulation between the rafters in a pitched roof. At least partially...

But this cannot be answered definitively on its own.

The attic is intended to be used only as storage space. The gable roof is planned with collar beam insulation (partly also between the rafters).
I’m just wondering which option is better: only between the rafters or collar beams (partly between the rafters)?

Why insulate the attic space if it’s just going to be used for storage anyway?

Then everything would be insulated :-P
