I have finished the interior of my attic conversion using OSB boards and am now looking for a cost-effective way to achieve a finished surface. I am familiar with the correct assembly using a vapor barrier / vapor retarder and drywall panels. I need to save money and am open to some experimentation. Currently, I am considering whether I can apply textured paint (roll-on plaster) directly onto the OSB boards and how to do this most effectively. Does anyone have experience with applying roll-on plaster on OSB in attic areas? Are there greater movements and a higher risk of cracking compared to walls? I am thinking of sealing the OSB joints with tape, filling larger gaps of 1–3 cm (0.4–1.2 inches) at connections first with filler compound, then applying tape over that, priming everything with adhesion primer, and finally applying the roll-on plaster and painting. I would appreciate your opinions...
