Of course, years ago we didn’t think about it or didn’t consider it important to be able to open our front door electronically.
By now, our daughter is 6 years old and will start school this year. She also often plays outside with her friends. We want to give her a key, but we have to expect that she might lose it 😉
However, ideally I would like to upgrade to a fingerprint or keypad lock.
There are cables only at the doorbell, and I would like to avoid running new wiring; this probably isn’t possible with a wooden door anyway.
During my search, I found the Burg Wächter Secure Entry.

It has pretty much everything we need, but before spending 300–400€ I’d rather ask if anyone has alternatives, experiences with it, or recommendations.
Thanks

As mentioned before, I advise against using numeric codes. They are too easy to spy on, and children might accidentally reveal them.
If you do use numeric codes, make sure each user has a unique code (the system must support this). Otherwise, if one code is compromised, everyone gets locked out at once.
Also, when considering a solution involving children, keep in mind that fingerprint readers should be mounted relatively high to present the finger at the correct angle. Children will need to be a certain age before they can use the fingerprint scanner or at least hold a token.

I have now found the new Doorkeeper from Somfy, which has been on the market for about 8 months. Since we already have Somfy products in the house, this could be an option.
The problem is the price... $399 for the lock plus $299 for the keypad. The keypad allows both token and code entry and also supports bracelets for children, etc.

I was also considering that one, but I’m not sure if the Doorkeeper is properly distributed in Germany. The website provides very little information, and it still seems to offer the old system. The only other shop where you can find the Doorkeeper is based in the Czech Republic. No user experience available. I assume it can only be obtained through specialized dealers.

The problem is that many things are only available through specialized retailers or from France. I got my Tahoma box from France myself. I haven’t found much information on Facebook either. A few people in one group have it and are satisfied.

For children, fingerprint scanners typically work properly starting at around 8 years old (of course, this varies individually), as younger children's fingers are usually too delicate.
