Hello everyone,

We removed a glued carpet in an older building, but some residue remains on the floor (see photo). Since the floor structure in this area needs to be raised by 10–15 mm (0.4–0.6 inches) anyway, my question is whether it is necessary to remove the residues.

We were told that OSB boards could be installed to raise the floor level. Vinyl flooring is planned to be installed on top. Are OSB boards the best choice, or are there other alternatives?

Thank you very much.

Best regards,
Daniel

For this, self-leveling compound is used. Any remaining material should be removed using a scraper.

So: the leftovers must be removed. Then the leveling compound: 1.5cm (0.6 inches) seems a bit thick for that. Check YouTube for videos on how to work with dry screed. There are some clips available. K.

Thanks in advance. Can the remaining bits be removed with a carpet stripper? Or would that have only worked if the entire carpet had been stripped with it right away? Now there are just some fuzz left on it!?
