ᐅ Replacing Plastic Feet on a Malm Nightstand – Where Can I Order Suitable Replacements?

FenesinHello everyone,
Some time ago, I bought the Malm nightstand from Ikea and noticed that the plastic feet start to wear down after a while and are no longer stable. You can tell especially because the nightstand wobbles slightly or doesn’t sit firmly on the floor anymore.
Now I’m looking for replacement feet for the plastic ones, ideally in the right size and of good quality. Does anyone have recommendations on where to order such replacement feet? It’s important that the feet have the same dimensions or are compatible, and that they don’t damage laminate or hardwood flooring.
Maybe someone here has experience with replacing the plastic feet on the Malm nightstand or knows whether Ikea sells these spare parts, or if it’s better to look for them from third-party suppliers.
I’m looking forward to your tips!

Does anyone have a recommendation where I can order replacement feet like these? It is important that the feet have the same dimensions or are well compatibleHello Fenesin,
generally, most furniture stores or Ikea itself only offer limited spare parts for such specific plastic feet. At Ikea, you can request spare parts, but replacement feet are often not available individually. However, it is worth contacting customer service to ask.
Alternatively, shops on platforms like eBay or Amazon often offer universal furniture glides or feet that can be easily installed if the measurements match. Make sure to check the diameters and the type of attachment carefully—these are usually small pads with a plastic cap or screw-in feet.
Another option is so-called "felt glides" or "furniture glides" with a plastic base, which you can adjust yourself. While these do not replace the original feet exactly, they protect the floor and can serve a very similar function.
If you are handy, some users order custom replacement feet from online stores specializing in furniture accessories or hardware stores offering specialized products.
At Ikea, you might also inquire at a "Family" store if you have one nearby. The staff there often have more information or can order spare parts.
Good luck with your search!

Does anyone have a recommendation where I can order replacement feet like these? It’s important that the feet have the same dimensions or are highly compatibleUnfortunately, the original plastic feet for the Malm nightstand are not officially available as replacement parts in the online store. I had the same issue and resolved it by searching specialized online shops for furniture feet.
Pay close attention to the dimensions: the feet usually have a square base of about 3 x 3 cm (1.2 x 1.2 inches) and are approximately 1.5 cm (0.6 inches) high. The mounting is either inserted or screwed in – if I remember correctly, the Malm model uses an inserted fitting.
Amazon and eBay have several options that fit more or less well; in this case, precise measuring and possibly contacting the seller is recommended. Prices are often low, so you can order a few to test if needed.
A small tip: if you use the feet on parquet or laminate flooring, check whether the new feet have felt pads attached underneath – this protects the floor.
If maintaining the exact look is important to you, manual measuring and making your own or finding a suitable third-party replacement is probably the best option.
In summary and clearly:
1. Official replacement parts from Ikea for the Malm nightstand are not directly available for online order, but Ikea offers a replacement parts service in some stores. It is worth asking there directly.
2. Dimensions of the feet:
- Base area approximately 3 x 3 cm (1.2 x 1.2 inches)
- Height about 1.5 to 2 cm (0.6 to 0.8 inches)
- Usually attached by plugging or snapping in
3. Alternatives:
- Furniture glides made of plastic or felt pads, which are often larger and may differ visually
- Specialized furniture accessory shops (e.g., ‘Möbelgleiter Express’ or similar)
- Platforms such as Amazon and eBay, where you should carefully check dimensions and customer reviews
4. Tips:
- Use a digital measuring tool or at least a ruler with good accuracy when measuring
- If you cannot find exact replacement feet, you can use a small adapter, such as a combination of a plastic glide plus a felt pad
- Consider floor protection, especially with laminate and hardwood floors
In conclusion: Without original replacement parts, the only option is a compromise with third-party products or DIY solutions.

Without original spare parts, unfortunately, you are left with either third-party replacements or DIY solutions. It's great that so many tips have already been shared here! 🙂 Recently, for my Malm nightstand, I simply ordered universal plastic furniture glides because the plastic feet were completely worn out. I cut them to size and screwed them underneath – now the nightstand stands very stable again, and my laminate flooring is protected.
One thing I definitely want to share with you: check Amazon or eBay for "furniture replacement plastic feet 3cm (1.2 inches)" or "Malm nightstand feet replacement" – there are some really affordable options, and usually, you can return them if they don't fit.
I never thought it would be this easy since I first assumed Ikea would handle everything centrally and perfectly. But the community here really helped me out! Good luck and enjoy your nightstand :-)

I recently ordered universal plastic furniture glides for my Malm nightstandJust buy universal glides around 3cm (1.2 inches) in size; they are usually attached with double-sided adhesive tape or pushed on. Amazon and hardware stores are good places to look. Alternatively, you can call Ikea customer service—they sometimes send out small repair kits.
