Hello, today a roofer friend visited us because we actually want to have the flying rafters and purlin ends covered.

We bought the house last August.

So now my question is, what can still be saved here?

2. What is the cost of replacing rafters and repairing the purlin ends?

We are thankful for any help.

I think the rafters and purlins are in good condition. There are specialist paint dealers where professionals also buy their supplies. Get some advice there—sanding is, of course, necessary. Then prime and paint. There are specific "Swedish house" paints; I don’t remember the exact name. But the Swedes are known for harsh climates and colorful wooden houses.

Yes, he was unsure because the rafter really does seem to be slightly rotting.

Does anyone have an idea of the cost to replace something like this?

Does anyone have an idea? I just need a rough price estimate.

Just kidding. In-and-out (I think that's what they used to say at pit stops). Replacing rafters isn’t as simple as changing a tire; the roof covering has to be removed first. What is the reason for all this anyway? To me, they just look weathered on the outside—what exactly are you concerned about?
