Hello, today a roofer friend visited us because we actually want to have the flying rafters and purlin ends covered.

We bought the house last August.

So now my question is, what can still be saved here?

2. What is the cost of replacing rafters and repairing the purlin ends?

We are thankful for any help.

Get yourself a professional once again,
I think that is precisely the OP’s problem: originally, they just had a fear—and now someone involved with "something to do with the roof" has even confirmed that it is justified.

Okay, what would you do? Just repaint it?

Yes, of course I would only renew the paint; in my opinion, nothing else is "broken."

Hello, what did you end up doing?
I have the same problem now and am not sure what to do.
The wood around the openings is partly so rotten that it is no longer load-bearing. I’m afraid it might collapse at some point... but I’m not sure to what extent the rafters have a structural function.
