Hello everyone,
We had to redo the shower drain. For this, we removed the floor tiles. To ensure the waterproofing was done perfectly, we also removed the lower wall tiles.
The grout remains on both the floor and the wall. It looks like this: exposed wall, grout, tile.

What is the best way to remove the grout without damaging the tiles? Are there any tips or tricks? A tiler told me it’s best to work carefully with wood or plastic tools to scrape or chip away the grout. However, he doesn’t do it himself because he’s afraid of damaging the surrounding tiles.

It’ll come off easily, just go for it. A small hammer and a precision screwdriver are enough. I replaced a tile after we had water damage in the basement.

The adhesive was worse.

As long as concrete was not used as jointing material, it can be removed quite easily. The tiler simply does not want to do any extra work because that would put them at risk of warranty claims. So, do it yourself.

Okay, I’ll get to it later. I’ll try to start gently, and if that doesn’t work, I’ll use the hammer and screwdriver. I would really regret if anything else got damaged. @tomtom79 removing the adhesive is honestly a nightmare.
