Hello,

Yes, I know there are a thousand different quality standards, etc., but in the forum there is also a common estimate for price per square meter / price per square foot that is often mentioned for the finished house (around 2000€/m² (185 USD/ft²)).
So, quickly and straightforwardly, based on your experience, what rough estimate can one use for the interior finishing (floors, tiles, ceilings, walls)?

Thank you very much, and happy holidays to you all 🙂

The question cannot be answered definitively. If you are satisfied with the flooring, fixtures, or the number of electrical outlets specified in the construction scope, you will likely be able to build more affordably than with the solid hardwood parquet and premium ceramic finishes option.

Why not share what you have in mind? Then you can probably get rough cost estimates from those who have installed similar materials.

Mid-level fittings at €750 to give a rough idea. However, this figure is just as meaningful or meaningless as €2,500 per square meter for new construction (rarely reaching €2,000).

What do you mean exactly by interior finishing? You listed painting work. (Flooring is part of painting/trade work.) What about electrical and plumbing?

You can calculate it yourself if you know the local prices and materials. Your list focuses on materials, and as you know, prices can vary widely. Additionally, the price often depends on sizes and formats, so the ranges can be broad. A bit more detail in the question would be helpful.

Yes, you’re probably right. It’s a bit too short-sighted. I will first have the surface area calculations sent by the house builder. Then I need to see what realistic average amounts are for all the various materials. We will have a timber frame house 81/5 from the regional timber builder/carpentry company. Then there will be screed, and all the walls will be finished with OSB boards. Some ceilings will be left exposed, so no cladding is needed there. The rest will be done with drywall or directly plastered. For all of this, I still need a rough estimate—a “ballpark figure” in standard terms. Actually, just as Yvonne already says, I meant “only” the painting work.

Then calculate the areas: floors, walls, tiled walls... at what heights will work be done? Should a hazard allowance be included?

And then: what is the purpose behind this? Do you want to calculate your labor costs or estimate a cost quotation? This also depends on the region; therefore, have several quotations made and compare them.
