For our new single-family home construction, we are considering outsourcing the entire plumbing service from the general contractor and managing the bathrooms ourselves. In this regard, we would like to gather information on which plumbing partners are suitable in the greater Cologne area. There are many "specialists" in this field. Finding a good balance between price and performance is important to us.
Perhaps someone has had a positive experience with a company.
Since a suitable company may not necessarily have a bathroom showroom, it would also be helpful to know where we can visit a large exhibition to get ideas.
What we are looking for is a high-quality bathroom setup, without it necessarily having to be the latest designer sink from the newest collection (and the corresponding additional costs).
Initially, we considered ordering plumbing fixtures from an online retailer like R..... and then just hiring someone for the installation; however, the general contractor said this could be risky, as who would be liable if the externally purchased toilet breaks during installation…

When it comes to showrooms: Megabad Cologne/Bochum, Reuter.
You have it right on your doorstep. By the way, Reuter also offers an installation service (or partners for that).
Otherwise, in my opinion, showrooms are not that useful. Often, the items you want to see are not even available there.

They were quite helpful to me because you can also see different room sizes and how to divide them. Although I am quite good at visualizing in 3D myself.
Also, the combination of tiles of all kinds and colors, which can greatly enhance even a simple bathroom. Many people struggle to imagine how to organize spaces without walls, how to cleverly position partition walls, or how to transform a standard shower into a shower sanctuary using a bold, extreme contrast. Simple lighting setups can also be seen almost everywhere.

Lawyer Shower, etc. are indeed important. We don’t want a standard bathroom.Well, any reasonably skilled plumber should be able to install a rain shower…
I still don’t understand. For requests like this, the tiler needs to be involved as well.
I wouldn’t start coordinating this yourself but have the general contractor handle everything. In the end, you’ll be responsible if the process isn’t well planned.

Therefore, you need to base it on your shower needs and not on: what do people usually have? Or what is more expensive or considered better than what we have in our rental apartment?I don't care what "people" usually have. WE want a rain shower. We already have one in the rental apartment and want the same in the future. I even replaced the showerhead in the rental to get a higher water flow and a true "rainfall feeling." For us, it’s about what we like, not about copying a show home. Our rental apartment is very well equipped. We won’t be able to equip the house entirely the same way. For example, smooth plastered ceilings would be a cost breaker, as I see it. It would be wrong to assume that living in rental properties always means living with lower quality.

A rain shower should be something any decent plumber can provide...I assume the same. It’s not that the general contractor’s plumber can’t do it; we just agreed that we would first clarify our sanitary needs and then see under what conditions this can be handled by the general contractor or if it would be better to outsource it.

Otherwise, you’ll be at fault if the process isn’t well planned. Then I have to try the opposite approach: plan everything with the general contractor’s plumber and then afterwards check if it can be done at a reasonable extra cost compared to a competitor.
Regarding the electrical work, it was also recommended to separate that scope but still coordinate with the electrician who would do the general contractor’s electrical work. However, I checked and there is no information on building automation, etc. at all. At least for the roller shutters, I would like to implement something like that.

However, I don’t think the installation service should be overestimated. It’s basically just a broker service and separate from the product purchase. The big question with something like this is who is liable if the installer incorrectly attaches the toilet and it cracks or something similar...
Otherwise, that would be an ideal solution.
They also offer a paid bathroom design service. That’s interesting too, but they only do it on-site, at the location where the bathroom is to be built. I’m afraid you can’t wait that long, because for the detailed planning, the piping and so on need to be finalized.
