Hello everyone,

I have a question about the sump pit: We have built a sealed concrete tank (watertight foundation). Our drainage pipe is quite high, so we will need to install an above-floor lifting system. So far, so good. Now the basement is finished (the screed has not been installed yet), and we had about 30cm (12 inches) of standing water in the basement (rainwater). We have now removed it with pumps and buckets. During this process, we realized that a recessed sump pit of about 40 x 40cm (16 x 16 inches) and approximately 20cm (8 inches) deep would be very useful. Our screed, including insulation, has a build-up height of around 20cm (8 inches).

Is there a way to create a recessed area with a waterproof frame in the screed? Unfortunately, I couldn’t find any frames or similar products online. We just wanted a solution that would allow us to use a submersible pump in the event of water damage. This way, all the water could be directed to this pit.

The screed installer said he doesn’t do this kind of work.
