Hi,

we have completed the 1:100 preliminary design, and I need a structural engineer for the calculation of the approval statics, floor thickness, and roof structure.

My question: What information does the structural engineer need for the calculations, besides the 1:100 drawings of the single-family house? Do I need to specify in advance which type of bricks we plan to use for the masonry?

Thank you very much

Hello,
among many other details, this was one of the specifications we had to provide to our structural engineer.

You will also need to clarify many details, which the structural engineer will address with you or your architect.

However, the design plans were the most important. If you have a soil survey, the engineer will ask for that as well.

So you are working with a draftsman; ideally an architect?

Neither of you knows which documents must be submitted to the structural engineer?!

Soil report, structure and thickness of the exterior walls, interior wall materials if different, slab thickness and material, window specifications, and scaled plans.

Thank you for the feedback. The architect has a structural engineer on hand, but I would like to obtain a separate quote.

Then call your favorite specialist, and they will tell you which documents they need.

Why make it complicated when it can be simple?
