Hello everyone,
A new residential development is being opened up in our area.
The allocation will be done by lottery, and you can apply for up to three plots.
Which ones would you choose?
A small note: the plan is oriented to true north. A tram line runs along the west side of the development, and there are already buildings to the northeast. To the south, there is a nature reserve.
I look forward to seeing your selections.

What is around the properties? Sidewalks that might need to be cleared of snow? I would pay attention to that.
Well, this might not be so important in North Rhine-Westphalia, but here we have property owners who get really upset with every snowfall because they have a corner lot and the sidewalk is right there. That means it has to be cleared.
You don’t really think about that in summer.

Baumeister160314 Jul 2020 14:58That actually wouldn’t bother us, since we are still relatively young.
Additionally, I would prefer having just one neighbor and, in return, be prepared for a bit more work around the house and yard.

You say that now. But even in bad weather, illness, continuous snow, etc., you are responsible for keeping the sidewalk clear. If something happens, it’s your liability (for example, if someone slips because it wasn’t cleared and breaks a leg).
But I can see these are probably significant regional differences *g*

A very nice one in NRW. Indeed, on this planet, and even in the same country where many others who write here talk about applicant-to-offer ratios of at least 4:1 (?)

Furthermore, I prefer Your Majesty kindly prefers. That sounds as if you had known for at least several weeks in advance that this development would be available before all other bidders.
I think you misunderstood my question. I was not asking which one it is to outbid you – rather, I have a justified concern that dozens of others are already doing that; and I want to express my surprise that you speak here as if you could calmly choose your priest’s lot and the common people must then take what you left over. I know the reality in most new residential developments quite differently. As I said, a 4:1 applicant ratio is already favorable, 8:1 to 12:1 is still within the average range, and at the peak I believe I have even seen oversubscriptions of 35:1. Is there a centralized application office here, and is the allocation free of local residency preferences, etc.?
