Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding the choice of windows.
I always assumed we would go with uPVC windows because of the lower maintenance required.
However, our architect is completely convinced of wooden windows.
Now I would like to hear your opinion: uPVC windows or wooden windows? Advantages and disadvantages?

That is not necessarily a given. In my parents’ house, there are plastic windows over 30 years old that still look like new. I know plenty of wooden windows that haven’t lasted that long. It’s quite risky to assume that one material definitely has a longer lifespan than another. In my old apartment, all the windows were replaced after 20 years because the hinge of one window broke out of the frame when it was opened (if that had happened to my wife, she probably would have been under it. I was lucky that the window fell onto the sill, and I managed to push it back up from above... a sash about 120 cm (47 inches) wide and tall with glass has quite a weight when it unexpectedly comes toward you). After inspecting the other windows, they were all replaced as well because in two more cases, the plastic housing the hinge had become brittle.

Our windows ultimately received an aluminum cladding. How does the issue of warping affect colored windows? Especially in terms of the materials involved. It is often said that foil-wrapped colored plastic windows warp when exposed to heat.
What about wood-aluminum windows or those with aluminum cladding?
