Hello everyone,
I have a question regarding the choice of windows.
I always assumed we would go with uPVC windows because of the lower maintenance required.
However, our architect is completely convinced of wooden windows.
Now I would like to hear your opinion: uPVC windows or wooden windows? Advantages and disadvantages?

In the end, it’s mostly a matter of personal preference and, above all, budget.

Whereas the plastic frame will probably be at the end of its lifespan anyway...That is not necessarily the case. In my parents’ house, there are plastic windows over 30 years old that still look like new. I also know plenty of wooden windows that haven’t lasted that long. I think it’s quite bold to assume one material automatically has a longer lifespan.
A house already requires plenty of work, so you don’t necessarily want to commit to annual window painting. That seems to be the common opinion, too—whenever I see wooden windows, it’s usually in older houses where nothing has ever been done to the windows, and they look accordingly neglected. My parents installed uPVC windows 35 years ago, and they still look good today without any maintenance over all that time. But of course, if someone prefers the look and is willing to pay extra for the additional work...
