Hello everyone,
We are still undecided about the best time to plaster the exterior wall of our house to avoid possible damage such as cracks. It could be done either before or after the winter 2018/2019. Since we will be moving in later, this is not a determining factor. The wall will be built with Planziegel Eder XP9 (42.5cm (17 inches)) without additional insulation.
What would you do?
Thank you very much!

Hello,
I would recommend applying the render before winter. If the bricks get wet and there is frost during winter, the bricks may crack. I have this problem on the east side of my house because the exterior render wasn’t completed on that side due to the weather, and over the winter, some flaking occurred. Although it’s just a cosmetic issue since it can be covered by the render later, it’s better not to invite problems.
Cracks will appear regardless of when you apply the render, because the house settles over the years. My first house developed cracks inside after about 10 years.
