Hello,
I hope to find some help here and that I am posting in the right section.

I need to position my house on the plot and I am completely overwhelmed.
Plot size: 599 sqm (6,445 sq ft), W x L 18.96m x 26.04m (62.2 ft x 85.4 ft)
Slope: No slope
The plot is flat and has no shading.
Site coverage ratio: 0.4, floor area ratio: 0.8
A double carport of 5 x 5m (16.4 ft x 16.4 ft) should be included.
Gable roof with 45° pitch
1 story, attic converted into living space
One half of the roof will be equipped with a 9 kWp solar system.
3 people, planned for 4
Ground source heat pump

I hope I have included all necessary information; I have also prepared two draft sketches.

Best regards
David

I'm about to leave, so just quickly addressing what caught my attention: why is the dining room planned so far from the kitchen and not directly adjacent to it? I would move the living area upstairs and place the dining room next to the kitchen.

No wonder you’re struggling with the house layout—it’s not tailored to the plot! The room arrangements and window placements don’t suit the southwest orientation at all.
Where is the site access located? Or can you still choose whether it faces south or west?
You can rotate the house so that the entrance faces east, south, or west. I would exclude south anyway, but even with east or west orientations, you don’t have any windows in the living area that let in sunlight.

So, we can still rotate and even mirror the house as we like.
We just don’t know what would be best.
I think it would be best if the roof faced 30 degrees southwest; the alternative would be to rotate the house by 90 degrees. Then the roof would face 50 degrees southeast. I suppose positioning it this way, with the neighbor above and the carport in between, would be good to minimize shading to the north.

Before you start considering how much shade your house will cast on the neighbor (very thoughtful of you 😉), take a closer look at the important point raised by ypg: The house doesn’t suit the plot. You can redesign it four times and end up no wiser than before—at best, you’ve found the lesser of several evils.

We can still adjust the windows; that’s not a problem.
With window adjustments, it should be doable, right?
I have created two more sketches.
The room layout can also be changed, but the kitchen is always opposite the living room and the utility room opposite the guest room.
Otherwise, I’m currently stuck.
