ᐅ Photovoltaic system with hybrid inverter without internet connection?

Kati2022Hello everyone,
Our construction is unfortunately delayed...
The photovoltaic panels have been installed on the roof since the end of November (mounted immediately after the roofing). The electricity inside the house has been available for a month, and the meter (bidirectional meter) has been connected for a week.
My photovoltaic offer states that the system can only be connected once the internet is working in the house. However, that could take until autumn...
Before I call the photovoltaic company, I wanted to ask about your experiences to prepare for the conversation.
Do I really need a permanent internet connection?
Would it not be enough if I provide my phone’s hotspot for configuring the inverter? It is a GoodWe hybrid inverter but without a battery for now.
It is quite frustrating to have no functioning photovoltaic system during this weather even though the panels are already on the roof...

WilderSueden2 Jun 2023 09:12Yes, a mobile hotspot should work. Just make sure you have two phones ready: one for the hotspot and one for configuration. I also have an inverter from Goodwe that requires connecting to a Wi-Fi network from the inverter itself, so that phone cannot provide a hotspot.
When is your planned move-in date? If you will be without proper internet for a longer period, it might be worth considering purchasing a mobile router or a USB surfing stick to connect to your router. We used a SIM card from Megasim, which offered unlimited data for 20€ (with speeds of only 10/5 Mbit).

In two weeks the plaster will be done, then the screed. It would be great to have the photovoltaic system ready for screed heating...
The electrical installation is not connected yet. Once the air-to-water heat pump is installed, we might get mobile internet to connect the heat pump with the photovoltaic system. Is that even possible?

We already had a battery-powered device for other reasons. You just insert a SIM card, and it creates a Wi-Fi network. All devices then connect to the Wi-Fi as usual.

Cool. I guess that thing can also stay connected to the main power supply continuously, right?Similar topics
