Hello everyone,

Since I have no prior experience, I would like to get some general information.
Our new building will be heated using an air-to-water heat pump.
What would generally and overall be the advantages, potential savings, and costs of installing a photovoltaic system on the roof? Is it worthwhile or not?

That’s exactly why I wrote “from a building regulation perspective.” I would guess that the development plan is about 30 years old; back then, rooftop photovoltaic panels were about as popular as satellite dishes on apartment balconies. Nowadays, due in part to improvements in module appearance, you really can’t seriously claim aesthetic benefits anymore—that’s likely how the regulatory authority sees it as well. And that’s before even considering the current energy and climate discussions.

Unless we’re talking about a gap between heritage-listed half-timbered houses, I wouldn’t get a crippled, expensive poorly designed system installed for that reason. Instead, I’d suggest stopping by the local authority office and asking politely.
