ᐅ Photovoltaic System: Costs and Savings Potential – Experiences?

Hello everyone,
Since I have no prior experience, I would like to get some general information.
Our new building will be heated using an air-to-water heat pump.
What would generally and overall be the advantages, potential savings, and costs of installing a photovoltaic system on the roof? Is it worthwhile or not?

@Specki: I admit that was a bit simplified and blunt, but I did mention that the feed-in tariff may expire during the year. Nobody knows the exact date yet. If the cap (52-GW cap) is reached, the tariff doesn’t end immediately. There is a transition period of 2 months (I can’t find the link right now). Of course, I would only install a system on the roof once I have a definite switch-on date and know for sure that I will still receive payment for my electricity.
I did forget to mention the remittance of VAT here. However, compared to the income/savings, it’s not a big deal. Since I am subject to VAT, I can reclaim the VAT on the entire photovoltaic system. That’s why all the tax-related hassle is worthwhile. If you don’t want to deal with that, you can simply go through the small business regulation (Kleinunternehmerregelung).
What will happen if there is no feed-in tariff remains to be seen. But I don’t think you have to give away any surplus for free...
Before accepting any offer from a solar installer, it’s definitely worth checking out the p-h-o-t-o-v-o-l-t-a-i-c f-o-r-u-m first...

But I don't think you have to give away the surplus for free....You would probably get around 3-4 cents on the open market, so unfortunately it hardly pays off anymore, except maybe for self-build projects. However, if politicians really fail to continue supporting renewables, then even facepalming won't help.
The duration of the feed-in tariff was tied to the cap. However, this cap has now been removed.
Basically, there is no longer any basis to phase it out.
The problem is that it was only announced that the cap would be removed, but nothing was said about what will happen to the tariff.
Edit: I need to correct myself, apparently they have reconsidered and are still deciding what will happen with it.
What a back and forth...

The original poster here has clearly shown a lack of knowledge, so it’s not helpful to write shortened and blunt statements.
By the way, you also forgot to mention income tax, which must be paid on the profit, as well as the need to insure the system and to build reserves. A beginner usually does not know any of this at first.
I fully agree with you. A photovoltaic system usually generates profits and is worthwhile both financially and environmentally. However, you shouldn’t simply leave out important points.
@Tarnari Yes, the cap has not been lifted yet. At the moment, the politics are really dithering in an embarrassing way...
One more question regarding the cap and the removal of the feed-in tariff.
I spoke with a solar installer today. He said that if the removal really happens, it will only affect system operators with installations larger than 40kWp.
I haven't been able to find this information anywhere. Have you heard anything about this?
