Hello everyone,

we were just asked what type of window sills we want.
Options: white aluminum or with a facing layer made of brick slips

About the house: 14 windows, white uPVC windows

What would you suggest? Pros and cons?

So, do you keep the window open when it rains? With triple glazing, you can’t hear anything inside, in my opinion.

Absolutely. I lived for years in a rented house like that. Triple glazed, windows closed. Sometimes it was impossible to sleep. I should add, there was no roof overhang.

Sorry for the late reply.

We have now decided on window sills made of brick slips. Neither of us liked the aluminum window sills.

Here are the pictures.

The labels on the views are a bit incorrect. Where it says “garden view” is actually the back of the house, with a 3-meter (10-foot) distance to the neighboring property. The street side corresponds to the garden side, with 12 meters (39 feet) to the street.

That's definitely the right decision. Granite might not have suited this natural stone either.

Could you tell me how your complete wall assembly is structured and whether you have an air gap in front of the insulation?

17.5cm (7 inches) sand-lime brick + 17cm (7 inches) glass wool insulation + 12.5cm (5 inches) cladding
I don’t mean an air gap in front of the insulation, but I’m not 100% sure right now. I’ll check this evening and then let you know.

Oh, that’s kind of you to answer additional questions here, even though the answer to your question has already been found.
