we are currently facing the challenge of planning our outdoor areas. We have several floor-level windows and want to create ground-level exits accordingly. The ventilation/drainage grilles are installed below ground level. Now we wonder if it is acceptable to simply install the dimpled membrane (with the dimples facing the brick) over this, or how should it be handled?
What are your thoughts? Attached is a photo for a better idea.

The windows look more like floor-to-ceiling rather than flush with the floor, but that’s just a minor detail.
I would consult a professional; otherwise, properly seal the ventilation openings located below ground level. Then install a dimpled membrane in front of them. Afterwards, have the corresponding ventilation openings restored one or two rows of bricks higher. In my opinion, this should be achievable retrospectively with reasonable effort.
What is not visible is whether the floor-to-ceiling or flush windows are properly sealed (keyword for search engines: "the forgotten connection"). Photos from the relevant construction phase could clarify this.
