ᐅ New Bathrooms – Saving Costs

Hello everyone,

we are building a house and recently visited a bathroom showroom.
Since I received a consultation there, I would like to purchase the selected items from that place. However, the prices are so high that I am now looking for an alternative.
Does it make sense to buy the selected items from an online retailer and have them installed?
What would you recommend?
Thank you for your help.
Best regards.

...have you ever tried negotiating? I mean everything from a single source; many are willing to be flexible in that case.

I find the hourly rate justified and am willing to pay it. It’s just that the product prices differ too much for me....

Are the product and the installation of the product listed separately in your quote?
What is stopping you from getting additional quotes from other plumbing companies?

A small tip: also take a look at the shipping costs, especially with R, as they can offset the price again. And tradespeople really don’t like doing that; I have a family member who can tell you stories about it.

Thanks for the tip. However, shipping is free from €2000, but the hourly rates for installation would still be interesting. I’ll first negotiate with our current supplier.

There is also a fairly large provider that starts with "R" and ends with "ter"... they offer installation services, for example.
Anyone have experience with them? Or would you advise against it?
Thanks

Do you actually read the posts in your own thread?

Of course, as a major online retailer, Reuter has a database of installers—similar to how Ikea offers a carpenter for furniture assembly—but you still have to pay them well. In the end, it doesn’t matter through which link you find your installer: whether connected via Reuter or through the Yellow Pages. I would always choose someone with good references from neighbors.

Just my two cents:
- If you’re lucky, the installer comes along to the bathroom showroom. That way, you get the correct prices with the right discounts right away.
- Otherwise, visiting the bathroom showroom was rather painful for us as well...
- I would hire the plumbing company with a basic all-in package (so all ceramics, all fixtures, etc.). When building with an architect, you just get three quotes...
- Furniture (vanity cabinet) can be bought later at a furniture store and installed yourself, not rocket science (for an architect-designed house, it should be easy to arrange a board behind the drywall with the drywall installer).
