ᐅ Looking for lighting ideas for a staircase in a gallery space

phobosHello!
I am looking for ideas for accent lighting on an open staircase and hallway.
From the basement hallway, we access the upper floor and gallery via a staircase that is open on one side. Our main lighting consists of standard ceiling lights hanging down about 2 meters (6.5 feet).
Now, I would like to add accent lighting on the staircase and possibly in the hallway. For example, to go to the bathroom at night or to move from the living room on the ground floor to the bedroom upstairs without turning on the main lights, and also simply as accent lighting.
I was thinking of up/down lighting or LED spotlights. Maybe something that stays on continuously (then LED).
What options are there for lamp selection? Perhaps someone has a nice idea about what to install and where? 🙂
I’ve pinned a rough sketch.
Regards,
phobos

For our open staircase (also the gallery and the living room open to above), we are using adjustable LED downlights, each with a power of 1 watt. Unfortunately, the bulbs have not been delivered yet (we are still waiting). If we like them, there will be a circuit with two accent lights in the hallway (left and right on one wall), two downlights shining upward onto the ceiling in the living area, two more by the staircase, and one on the gallery. Together, these should illuminate the “escape route” from the bed to the kitchen or simply be on when it’s cozy or if someone needs quick access to the bathroom upstairs. They could also be turned on when the house is empty.
There are plenty of lamps available! It’s a matter of personal taste. I searched for LED downlights but halogen lamps with G10 sockets can also be converted to LED. 🙂

Hi YPg,
thanks for the info.
Did you use 230V LEDs or ones with a transformer?
How do you plan to install the spots? These are not recessed spots, phobos, they are small cubes that can be rotated and mounted on the wall or ceiling. I prefer fixtures that look like lamps and can be touched, rather than just round devices that emit light. Transformer? No idea, I’m a blonde :o
