Hello,

I need your help choosing the right video door phone system and fingerprint scanner.

(I know there are many threads on this topic, and I have read them all, but I am still not any wiser.)

I find the market for IP video door phone systems very confusing and hard to understand.

I am looking for an IP video door phone system with SIP and fingerprint for our new build.

The video door phone system should be able to do the following:

- When the doorbell rings, it should send a signal to an indoor station and an acoustic chime, as well as to registered phones or tablets on the network (when we are at home)
- From the app, it should be possible to open the electric door lock (Winkhaus BlueMatic with A-opener) using the A-opener to allow guests in at the push of a button (possibly also by voice command, e.g., Alexa, if this is not too insecure)
- The doorbell should work without cloud dependency and without paid subscriptions
- I want a future-proof doorbell; should it be connected only via PoE or via 2-wire plus PoE?
- The doorbell should also support SIP to distribute video signals within the house to registered users

As for the fingerprint scanner, I am uncertain as well.
Most say that ekey is number one in Europe for fingerprint scanners.
Is that really the case? Is there no alternative to ekey if you want a secure and reliable fingerprint scanner?
Some doorbells have their own integrated fingerprint scanner (e.g., Goliath).

Should we choose a doorbell with an integrated fingerprint scanner, or mount the fingerprint scanner separately on the facade?

Which IP video door phone system with SIP would you recommend?

I have already seen quite a few options but find it very difficult to pick the right one.

I hope you don’t mind me opening a new thread and can help me avoid buying the wrong system.

Hi Gooosee,

I wanted to ask if you’ve made any progress on this topic and which product you ultimately decided on?
I’m facing the same task right now and I’m equally confused by the lack of transparency.
In particular, I don’t understand why Electrician/IT Specialist A says we need someone to integrate the doorbell software into the house system, while Electrician/IT Specialist B says I should just buy whatever I like and then simply connect it.

Basically, I see two aspects here: 1. the function of opening the door via a sensor (RFID, keypad, fingerprint) and the related communication with the front door mechanism that triggers the motor, and 2. the IP-based video display and the door opening over IP (controlled via software on a PC or an app on a smartphone) as mentioned in point 1. So somewhere there must be something running 24/7 that stores my “login data” like fingerprint, code, or RFID credentials.
