ᐅ Looking for a motorized lock or electric door opener for an automatic door

Hello,

we are planning to build a semi-detached house (construction has not started yet, only the planning phase) with a developer.

We have already chosen the front door: it is a Rodenberg aluminum door with a plastic core and a triple automatic locking system (changes might still be possible).

The automatic locking system has two bolts (top and bottom) that lock automatically and mechanically and can always be opened from the inside.
The third bolt (in the middle) can only be locked with a key, and once locked, the door cannot be opened from the inside.

We are now considering having a front door with a fingerprint scanner to increase convenience, plus a video doorbell.

I have tried to research the topic and would appreciate your help.

The fingerprint scanner should be from Ekey (as far as I understand, everyone highly recommends Ekey).
We want the fingerprint scanner externally on the video doorbell, not integrated into the door itself.

My first question is: what kind of lock do we need?

Does it have to be a (probably expensive) motorized lock, or would an electric strike for an automatic locking system be sufficient (where the mechanically locked bolts are pushed back electrically)?

Ideally, we would then be able to open the door by fingerprint and also unlock the door via an app linked to the video doorbell (we would select a compatible doorbell and lock), possibly even remotely while away.

I hope you can help me with advice regarding the door lock.

We will definitely choose a video doorbell with POE.

Does the Goliath have its own built-in fingerprint scanner, or is it also from ekey?

Can the Goliath be accessed remotely from outside without a subscription?

Currently, we don’t have any children, so the indoor station must be upgradable later on.

However, our front door has a glass element, so the child could also see who is at the door.

What other POE video doorbell alternatives are there without ekey that meet my requirements (meaning we would have to install the ekey separately below or next to the doorbell)?

I find it very difficult and quite confusing to find suitable video doorbells.

Goliath/Dahua has its own fingerprint module.
As far as I know, remote access is also possible via the app, but I haven’t set that up myself. I’m still not sure if I really need or even want it, since opening a port to the outside always carries some risks.

There are many videos online about Doorbird and Goliath.
Both are quite versatile and, in my opinion, exactly match what you’re looking for.
2N can do this as well, but I didn’t look into their licensing options in detail.
If you exclude the fingerprint feature, then much cheaper solutions like Akuvox, Netatmo, Legrand, etc. might also work.
I can’t say if all of these are IP-based solutions or if they offer all the features you want, as I didn’t consider them.
In this forum, you’ll find many threads on this topic if you use the search function. There, you can probably find some additional options.

If you want to retrofit ekey yourself, make sure you have enough cabling installed.

Yes, I also found the licensing at 2N very confusing.

I would say Doorbird is the most well-known one, with the most information available.

I wanted to first clarify which fingerprint system we should choose. Should we go with ekey, or is it possible to use another one?

For me, security, reliability, and speed are important.

We have chosen the Winkhaus blueMatic automatic lock with an A-OPENER.

I have one question: Is it just as easy to change the locking cylinder on an automatic lock with an A-OPENER as it is on a regular front door?

Can no one help me with this?
Is it possible to replace the lock cylinder on the Winkhaus BlueMatic as easily as on a standard front door?

So with the Bluemotion, the key simply turns as long as one is inserted in the cylinder. When the construction cylinder was replaced, it didn’t look to me like it was a special door cylinder.

In other words: In my opinion, the replacement is not a problem.
